Blake Lively has found herself at the centre of a racism storm after a comment she posted alongside a picture of herself on Instagram drew negative comments from followers.
The use of the words "LA face with an Oakland booty" - which are lyrics from a 1992 Sir Mix-a-Lot song,Baby Got Back - alongside red-carpet pictures of her from the front and from the back, have been criticised as racially insensitive by many. The words refer to Oakland, a city in California considered to be a traditionally black area, being compared to LA.
A comment from a fan read : "Another day, another rich white woman using women of colour's bodies as a punchline and commodity," one user commented, while another added: "Used to like you Blake … turns out you appropriate black culture #unfollowed"
Lively, who is expecting her second child with husband Ryan Reynolds, is still in Cannes and has not yet commented on the outcry.
